Proud, regal
the queen stands
Elevated magnificence
Gloriously suspended
above the mundane
Frosty gaze warming
Her sycophants gather
Exultation and exuberance
Sung forth in joyous glory
But cold is the throne
Freezing a capricious heart
Locked in ignorance
Hidden in fear
It withers

Withering
Love dies
Locked away
Greedily withheld
A meritous gift
Granted only those
Pleasing her majesty best
Though false is the façade
Of urbane civility and
Logical reasoning
Grasped so firmly
In shaking hands
The mortal behind
Quails
In the face of truth

Dusky beggars
Cast aside in disgust
Disregarded empty husks
Humanity’s refuse
Slowly they rise
Humped shoulders straightening
Vile excrement burned away
As holy light
Emanates forth.
Guardian angel
Eyes black with eternity
Hidden from those
Blinded by Life
Turns away
...before the fall...

a focus on that which is aspired to, from behind the looking glass... Are the goals we seek in life truly worth it, when they lead us towards vice and away from virtue?

Dude I love this one. The use of words is brilliant *thumbs up* I love your ability to write poetry that can apply to any person in any situation without having to be an exclusive "This is about this event" poem. If that made sense
